How I work.
First and foremost my approach to therapy and teaching is underpinned by compassion as a medium for change.
We all arrive at some points in our lives when we feel overburdened or troubled by unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving. Some problems may be particularly difficult to think about let alone talk about. As a result of my varied background I have experience in working with individuals with a wide range of problems, some which may feel particularly embarrassing to the person. I am able to work in a totally non-judgmental way to enable you to move forward with your individual problem within a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship.
When having emotional problems it is important to choose a therapist who has the necessary training and experience to work with you in a collaborative style to uncover what keeps your problem going. CBT is not all about your early childhood although jointly we will explore how your early experiences may be causing and maintaining your problems in the present. As a requirement of my membership of the BACP and BABCP I am required to maintain confidentiality and to treat clients with respect and dignity.
Jointly we will explore how problems keep going in a totally non-judgmental way in order to encourage you to have some control over your feelings.
I am highly experienced and trained in many aspects of Psychological and physical problems and how these can influence each other.
I am very experienced in working with trainee Counsellors and can offer personal therapy, and Supervision as requirements of their training.
An initial assessment lasts for 90 minutes and further individual therapy sessions last for 60 minutes
